Can’t be any poorer than dead
April 10th, 2005Wow, what a weekend. Thursday-Friday was quite a 24 hour roller coaster. A broken heart, a beautiful new niece, and a home invasion. For those keeping score, it’s Life – 2, Dangerboy – 1.
I came home from visiting the new baby in the hospital to find that the Danger Ranch had been pillaged by invading asshats. My first thought was “aw shit, I just bought the TiVo. My Precious!” Except for a ransacked house, the only casualty was a card holder with some credit cards, Social Security card, fishing license, etc. Fortunately none of the credit cards were used before I could cancel them. Now, in addition to the usual Monday morning panty untwisting at work, I have to start wading into the bureaucracy of getting a new SS card and getting my credit report flagged for identity theft.
Dangerblog might be on hiatus for some re-fortifying and hatch-battening back at the ranch, so here is a musical interlude: Hadacol’s Poorer Than Dead.

Geek synergy
April 6th, 2005The new Battlestar Galactica series on SciFi now has a producer’s commentary available via podcast. Grab each episode’s podcast and listen along while watching it on TV. No need to wait for the DVD. How’s that for synergy? Or convergence, or any buzzword of your choice…
MSA funding in jeopardy
April 5th, 2005I know at least a couple of y’all here are MSA alums, so this might be of interest to you… The last few years the Academy has had to fight an annual battle for funding in a pretty bleak state budget situation. This year is no different. At the moment, the House budget committee is recommending zero money for the 2006 Scholars Academy and Fine Arts Academy. If you are so inclined, now would be an important time to once again write to your reps in Jeff City and express your opinions. Also keep an eye on moscholars.org for more updates.
VR mourning
April 4th, 2005A very cool QuickTime VR panorama of people mourning the pope in St. Peter’s Square. It’s almost like being there in the middle of the crowd.
