New laws proposed

Now that the Repugnants have full control of state government, the onslaught of “morality” legislation is about to begin. This year they made sure gay marriage wasn’t just illegal, but really, really illegal. Next year they’ll be focusing on birth control, abortion, and evolution. Here are just some of the bills that have already been filed for the 2005 session of the General ASSembly.

HB 83 - Creates the crime of displaying an adult entertainment film in a motor vehicle (Scott Rupp, Wentzville)

HB 34 - Eliminates the requirement that course materials and instruction on human sexuality and sexually transmitted diseases include discussion of contraception methods (Cynthia Davis, O’Fallon)

HB 35 - Requires that all biology textbooks sold to the public schools of the State of Missouri have one or more chapters containing a critical analysis of origins (Cynthia Davis, O’Fallon)

SB 94 - Creates the Respect Life license plate (John Cauthorn, Mexico)

SB 92 - Allows members of the NRA to obtain specialized license plates (John Cauthorn, Mexico)

SB 2 - Modifies laws relating to abortion services (John Loudon, Ballwin)

Take the Bloggers Bowling

Or in this case, take them drinking… Big thanks to Tony Ortega over at the Pitch for inviting us to their holiday party at Jilly’s. Faces were put with names like Riot Geek, M. Toast, E.Sigler, Badda Blog, Blogstar, Arcturas, Reecie, Wild Scorpy, Bradical Mind Spew, Sir Vinegar, blog groupie/stalker The Night Ranger, and of course Greg “I’m the blogger of the year, bitch” Beck. Sadly, Tony of Tony’s Kansas City was a punk-ass no-show. Apologies to anyone I failed to mention - my night started at the work holiday happy hour, so I was focused on holding my shit together by the end of the night.

Update: Badda Blog has pictures

Back when Tim McGraw chose good songs

Back When (mp3) by Tim McGraw has to be one of the worst songs ever. And not in a good way, in a really bad way. I’m a fun of bad country songs (e.g. Mississippi Squirrel Revival or I’m Gonna Hire a Whino to Decorate our Home), but these lyrics are soooo terrible. I can’t decide if it’s supposed to be cheesy, or sincerely sentimental - but it fails either way.

Back when a hoe was a hoe
Coke was a coke
And crack’s what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew
And when you said I’m down with that
Well it meant you had the flu

Road rage flash cards

nullThese cards would come in very handy for that monthly shopping pilgramage out to the suburbs.

Mobile Speed Bumps
Community-group members who drive the highways at the posted speed limit in an effort to force the cars behind them to do the same.
