New laws proposed

December 17th, 2004

Now that the Repugnants have full control of state government, the onslaught of “morality” legislation is about to begin. This year they made sure gay marriage wasn’t just illegal, but really, really illegal. Next year they’ll be focusing on birth control, abortion, and evolution. Here are just some of the bills that have already been filed for the 2005 session of the General ASSembly.

HB 83 – Creates the crime of displaying an adult entertainment film in a motor vehicle (Scott Rupp, Wentzville)

HB 34 – Eliminates the requirement that course materials and instruction on human sexuality and sexually transmitted diseases include discussion of contraception methods (Cynthia Davis, O’Fallon)

HB 35 – Requires that all biology textbooks sold to the public schools of the State of Missouri have one or more chapters containing a critical analysis of origins (Cynthia Davis, O’Fallon)

SB 94 – Creates the Respect Life license plate (John Cauthorn, Mexico)

SB 92 – Allows members of the NRA to obtain specialized license plates (John Cauthorn, Mexico)

SB 2 – Modifies laws relating to abortion services (John Loudon, Ballwin)
