Missouri Republican Strategy

December 18th, 2003

The Temple Report has an excellent satire of the Republican's legislative strategy for earlier this year. It's dead on accurate and actually very informative about their successful stealth efforts to undermine and dismantle state government. Read 2004 Budget Strategy (PDF).

Madeleine K. Albright – Madam Secretary: A Memoir

December 15th, 2003

One of the best autobiographies I have read. Albright's life story is amazing, from fleeing the Nazis and Communists, to becoming America's first female Secretary of State. Her memoir is filled with hundreds of stories behinds the scenes of remarkable world events throughout the 1990s – including the Middle East, Bosnia, Kosovo, Rwanda, Central and Eastern Europe, and more. It's amazing to remember how many major world evens happend during that decade.

Digital Photography

December 11th, 2003

Good-bye, Gallery. This online photo album system was good, but it wasn't worth the hassle of customizing and maintaining the MySQL and PHP. Now my photo album is normal HTML, exported from iPhoto via the BetterHTMLExport plugin. For the Windows users out there, I recently came across a great new digital photo program called Picasa. It's a beautiful app – affordable, clean and simple, and very fast. Hope to see a Mac version soon.

Reason #28 Why Pop Country Radio Sucks

December 1st, 2003

Christmas music. Post-Thanksgiving brings us the annual crapfest of pop country Christmas songs, at least once per hour on every station. And not just vaguely country-esque versions of traditional carols – but also lots of really bad songs about homeless kids, orphaned kids, sick kids, etc. I ain't trying to be no Scrooge, I just want the cheese dial turned down a couple of notches.
