Chicago recap

October 27th, 2009

We took the train to Chicago this past weekend for an anniversary getaway.  We once again stayed at the Allerton Hotel on North Michigan Avenue, a great 1920s hotel.  Across from Grant Park we discovered the Museum of Contemporary Photography, a nice gallery attached to Columbia College. And then we ate a lot…

Noodles, Etc. in Hyde Park.

Aladdin’s Eatery – Lebanese in Lake View.

Half Shell – seafood and bar in Lake View.

Crepe and Coffee Palace (a.k.a. Icosium Kafe) -  Algerian restaurant with a huge crepe menu, in Lincoln Park.

New York CITY!

July 22nd, 2009

A long weekend in New York included the Brooklyn Bridge, Coney Island, Central Park, Bryant Park, Washington Square Park, the Empire State Building, Smith Street in Brooklyn, Greenwich Village, and The High Line - an old elevated train line that has just been turned into an awesome linear, elevate park. Bike the Drive

May 28th, 2009

This past weekend I took the Dahon folder on Amtrak to Chicago for the annual Bike the Drive bike ride.  Lake Shore Drive is shut down for four hours and taken over by 20,000 bicyclists.  It was a great time in a great city.
