Would you like light biege, medium biege, or dark biege?

Every day on my way to work I walk past a Starbucks that is located right between two local, independent coffee houses. Even though Starbucks has the worst coffee of the three, it has a steady stream of suburbanites going in on their way to work and after work sitting outside all up in their brief urbanity (in KC many of these people are easily identifiable by their license plates). What’s the deal? Are these people from the land of beige houses so adverse to variety that they automatically go for the most familiar option, even if it’s worst of the three?
