Cancelling subscription to HGTV
July 16th, 2008Apparently the hours wasted in watching home staging and makeover shows failed learn us anything, since we only have six days to sell our house before we lose the contract on the new one.

Good luck, man. It’s a bitch out there right now. I’m expecting an offer on my place today, but it’s been on the market a long, long time.
Aaaaaand the sale fell through. Good news for you, that means one more buyer still looking!
Bummer
Where’s the house? From what we can tell the urban neighborhoods and close-in suburbs are still doing pretty well. Prices haven’t collapsed like out in the cul-de-sac areas. One of our problems is that we have a suburban-style ranch house in a neighborhood where everyone wants historic houses.
It’s in eastern Shawnee, which I was hoping qualified as close in enough to avoid the worst of the real estate problems. Lots of strikes against the house, though. It’s close to a busy street, it’s in a neighborhood with high HOA dues (that’s what killed this sale), and it’s a weird split level that I liked, but nobody else seems to like.
It may be available for rent before too much longer. Good luck with your sale!
